We are upgrading the Sberbank Mobile application in multiple steps. As the first step, we are introducing biometric identification during December 2020. Instead of the previously used password and SMS code combination you can now login or sign transactions using biometric identification (fingerprint and Face ID) or a 6-digit MPIN code.
When you first launch the updated or newly downloaded application you need to go through a registration process. During this process first you need to authorize yourself with your previously used login, password and SMS code combination first, then you are required to create a 6-digit MPIN code. In the last step you can optionally turn on fingerprint or Face ID authentication if its supported by your device.
Please update the Mobile bank application in order to use biometric authentication or MPIN.

What does this mean in practice?
If you have the Sberbank Mobile application downloaded, you need to update the app to enable using our new services.
During the first login of the updated application you need to create a 6-digit MPIN code as part of the registration process detailed above.
It is important to know, that after a successful registration you can only login with your MPIN code (or biometric authentication if its enabled)!
After a successful registration you will have the option to choose between MPIN and Biometric (fingerprint or Face ID) options for login and signing transactions in the mobile app.
What can I do if I forgot my MPIN code?
- If you want to use biometric authentication in the mobile app, it is necessary to turn on this function on your device as well.
- If your device is capable of biometric authentication, you can switch this function on or off anytime in the “Settings” menu of the Mobile app.
In this case you can use the “Reset” button under “Settings” on the main screen. After a successful reset you need to go through the registration process again.
What will happen if I fail to enter the correct MPIN code multiple times?
After 5 failed attempts the application will delete the registration data and you will have to register again.
